The Nigerian Educational Psychologists is the journal of the
Association of Child and Learning Psychologists (ACLP), formerly the Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologists (NISEP).
The Association has, as much as possible, had a journal publication and a book of readings
from the papers presented at each of its national conferences. The first volume of the journal
was published in 2002, and the journal now appears in two annual editions.
When Volume 1 was published there was, to the best of the Association’s knowledge, no professor among
its members. Prof. N.N. Okoye of the Department of Psychology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,
was therefore asked to serve as Editor-in-Chief for Volumes 1 and 2 to start the journal.

The journal serves the Association’s mission: to give professionals in Educational Psychology and
allied areas an academic forum for discussing issues relating to the Nigerian child and the
teaching-learning process. Preference is given to empirical research papers.
Review
Manuscripts are reviewed and contributors are promptly informed of the status of their submission.

The Association was founded in 2000, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2023 as
the Association of Child and Learning Psychologists, and celebrated its silver jubilee in October 2025.
